(Effective1.1.2025) An 8-hour Board Approved Infection
Control
Certification Course is required for the unlicensed DentaI
Assistant prior to performing any basic supportive dentaI
procedures involving potentiaI exposure to blood, saliva
or other potentially infectious material.
As part of
the legislative mandate, under B&P Section 1750, an
unlicensed dentaI assistant under continuous employment
for 120 days or more must complete, within one year from
the date of employment, a DentaI Board approved Infection
Control Certification Course, effective January 1, 2O1O.
lt is also a requirement for the RDA, OA, DSA applicants
to satisfy the applicant requirements with the Dental
Board of California. Must be a length of 8 hours, and
a Dental Board approved course in the Dental Practice
Act (2-hrs) is required as well. Upon successful completion
of the course, a Certificate of Completion will be issued.

To take X-rays
in California this is a MANDATORY CERTIFICATION COURSE
for entry Level Dental Assistants, DA and RDA Applicants
to receive a certificate of completion in Dental Radiation
Safety Course. This Certification Course is structured
to meet the criteria set forth by the Dental Board of
California. This course provides basic dental X-ray certification
training demonstrating different exposure techniques.
This course includes classroom, lab, and clinicaI training
of dentaI radiation safety and various techniques traditional
dental film and digital X-ray exposure, film mounting,
bisecting and parallel techniques of X-ray positioning,
processing the X-ray film, critiquing, and analyzing of
dentaI X-rays..
The Laboratory
portion of this course will include using manikins utilizing
traditional X-ray for film processing and mounting of
the X-ray films. You will be returning on Day 2
for the FinaI Clinical Exam on your Patient.
Four (4) separate
clinicaI patients are required to be completed at your
workplace
under the Direct Supervision of your Dentist. The Dentist
must sign the "Extramural
Facility Contract" and must complete a 30-minute
orientation by phone with the
program director to discuss the course outline objectives
and Clinical Check off.
All clinical
patients, total of (5) will need a Rx (Prescription) from
a licensed Dentist that the patient is eligible for a
Full Mouth set of x-rays. This course is meant to meet
the criteria set forth by the Dental Board for the operation
of dental radiographic equipment in California. Once the
student completes all the requirements, a certificate
of completion will be issued.

Coronal Polishing
Course for the DA or RDA Applicant. Prior to Licensing
as an RDA, A
Dental Board approved Coronal Polishing Course must be
completed.
The procedure
is limited to the removal of plaque and stain from exposed
tooth
surfaces, using an appropriate rotary instrument with
a rubber cup, brush and a
polishing paste.
All supplies
are provided. You must bring your own PPE.
All (3) clinical
patients will need a calculus free form signed by A Dentist
or A Dental
Hygienist. Dentist must complete a 30-minute orientation
by phone with the program director to discuss the course
outline objectives and sign the "ExtramuraI Facility
Contract". Once the student completes all the requirements,
