Course Info:

Eight (8) hours of Instruction blended with Home Study By Means of Electronic Media and (4) hours will be offered through traditional hands on format in our Clinical Training Dental office in San Jose California.

An 8-hour Board Approved Infection Control Certification course is required in order for a Dental Assistant to be compliant and RDA, OA, DSA applicant to satisfy the applicant requirements with the Dental Board of California. RDA applicant effective January 1, 2010, an 8-hour Board approved Infection Control Certification course is required to be completed as well as a dental board approved course in the California Dental Practice Act. As part of this legislative mandate, under B&P Section 1750 unlicensed dental assistant under the dentist’s continuous employment for 120 days or more must complete, within one year from the date of employment, a Dental Board approved Infection Control course. Must be a length of 8 hours, and a Dental Board approved course in the California Dental Practice Act (2-hr) is required as well. Upon successful completion of the course, a certificate of completion will be provided.

  • ALL STUDENTS BEFORE REGISTERING INTO THE DENTAL RADIATION SAFETY COURSE MUST HAVE AT LEAST SIX (6) MONTHS EXPERIENCE IN THE DENTAL FIELD (LETTER FROM YOUR EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED, STATING HOW LONG YOU HAVE BEEN EMPLOYED AND MUST BE SIGNED BY YOUR EMPLOYER) “OR”
  • BE A GRADUATE FROM A DENTAL ASSISTING PROGRAM (DIPLOMA or CERTIFICATE) “OR”

Course Info:

In order to take x-rays in California this is a MANDATORY CERTIFICATION COURSE for entry level Dental Assistants, DA and RDA Applicants to receive a certificate of completion in Dental Radiation Safety Course. This certification course is structured to meet the criteria set forth by the Dental Board of California. This course provides basic dental x-ray certification training demonstrating different exposure techniques. This course includes classroom, lab, and clinical training of dental radiation safety and various techniques, film and digital x-ray exposure, film mounting, bisecting and parallel techniques of x-ray positioning, processing the x-ray film, critiquing, and analyzing of dental x-rays.

The Laboratory part of this course will include using manikins utilizing traditional x-ray for film processing and mounting of the x-ray films. You will be taking x-rays on your first clinical patient (1) with the Instructor on either day 1 or 2 at the Clinical Facility.

Four (4) separate clinical patients are required to be done at your workplace under the Direct Supervision of your Dentist. Dentist must sign the" Extramural Facility Contract" and must complete a 30-minute orientation by phone with the program director to discuss the course outline objectives and clinical check offs. Patients 2, 3, 4 are homework and patient 5 is for the final clinical exam.

All clinical patients, total of (5) will need a Rx (Prescription) from a licensed Dentist that the patient is eligible for a Full Mouth set of x-rays. This course is meant to meet the criteria set forth by The Dental Board for the operation of dental radiographic equipment in California. Once the student completes all the requirements, a certificate of completion will be issued.

Course Info:

Coronal Polishing Course for the RDA or RDA Applicant. (You do not have to be an RDA to take this course but must meet all the above requirements). Prior to Licensing as an RDA, A Dental Board approved coronal polishing course must be completed.

The Laboratory part of this course will include using typodonts to perform coronal polishing.

(3) separate clinical patients are required to be done at your workplace under the Direct Supervision of your Dentist. Dentist must sign the "Extramural Facility Contract" and must complete a 30-minutre orientation by phone with the program director to discuss the course outline objectives and clinical check offs.

All (3) clinical patients will need a calculus free form signed by A Dentist or A Hygienist. Once the student completes all the requirements, a certificate of completion will be issued.

  • Certificate of completion for coronal polishing from a board-approved course provider or RDA license card with coronal polishing certification indicated on the card.

This Course Consists of:

16 hours of Instruction blended with Home Study by means of Electronic Media, and 12 hours of Live Instruction to complete the Lab and Clinical portion of the Course.

Course Info:

This course is designed for RDA applicants and RDA's currently having coronal polishing certification. They may take this pit and fissure sealant certification course. Students will be taught through lecture and thorough demonstration through a video format.

The Laboratory part of this course will include using typodonts to place pit and fissure sealant material on sixteen teeth, utilizing traditional hands-on format in our clinical training facility in San Jose.

All (4) clinical patients-one tooth per quadrant, per patient, are required to be done at your workplace under the direct supervision of your Dentist. Dentist must sign the "Extramural Facility Contract" and must complete a 30-minute orientation by phone with the program director to discuss the course outline objectives and clinical check offs. Once the student completes all the requirements, a certificate of completion will be issued.
